Jaxon does high quality work at a great price compared to other luthiers in Austin. He is very meticulous really knows what he is doing. This is the third time he has worked on one of my guitars and I plan on using his service for all my guitars in the future.
Recently I experienced a situation with my beloved Collings OM guitar that we all dread; one of my Australian Shepards, in his haste to welcome a visitor, knocked my guitar into our chimney hearth putting several small dents in the neck. While they were not catastrophic, they were obvious when playing up and down the neck. What’s more, I couldn’t bear to have such a fabulous guitar marred in this way so I set out to find a really good luthier to restore my favorite guitar.I chanced upon Jaxon Edwards’ website and after reading many positive customer comments and checking around, I decided to give him a call. Boy was that a great decision. From photos I sent, Jaxon spent a good deal of time discussing on the phone how he would make the repair, provided me with an approximate, fair cost estimate and time of completion which he verified once I delivered the guitar to him. Furthermore, throughout the repair process, he emailed me photos and descriptions on how it was going. I was able to pick up the guitar one day earlier than anticipated and the damaged area had miraculously disappeared, thanks to the awesome skill of this fine craftsman. These days it is hard to find people who really take pride in every aspect of their work, are totally professional, keep their commitments, are honest to a fault and execute with high quality results. Jaxon is one of those rarities. I highly recommend Jaxon to anyone who is putting a cherished guitar into his care and service. Thanks Jaxon for a great job!
Just had Edwards Lutherie do a full top refinish on my older Taylor 114e and couldn’t be more happy with their work. They were able to completely fix the spot (caused from years of sticker being on the guitar) and not only does it look great, they were able to recreate the beautiful aged amber tone the top had perfectly. Jaxon and the folks at Edwards are not only super talented craftsman, but super friendly and trustworthy. Highly recommend them for all your guitar repair needs! Thanks again for an amazing job Jaxon!
Jaxon is an honest luthier with expertise well beyond his years. The first guitar I took to him was having issues staying in tune. I originally asked Jaxon to replace the 8-year-old factory tuners. However, after spending a day with the instrument, he decided to simply file and lubricate the nut slots. The issues I was experiencing disappeared, and for far less money than I had budgeted! Since then I’ve taken a second guitar to him for a set-up, and I’ll be taking all of my stringed instruments to him in the future. It’s also worth noting that aside from repair, Jaxon builds amazing custom instruments. Be sure to ask him for a glimpse of his latest projects if you’re ever at his workshop!
Was hoping to just buy a car but got that and a great guitar set up. My acoustic was getting fret wear from years of use. Jaxon was able to replace 7 frets and do a set up and now my 20 year old Yamaha Compass plays like new. Reasonable price, timely repair and good communication. What else could you ask for?
Professional musician here, Jaxon is my go-to guy. Prompt, professional, pleasant, reasonably priced, he’ll continue to be my go-to guy going forward.
I had played my Takamine for so long the fret bars became worn, I check with several repair shops, none would take on the job. I found Jaxon’s website and contacted him. He did not hesitate and did an outstanding job replacing the fret bars at a very reasonable price. He will be the man for any future repairs I may have.
I have had Jaxon work on two projects for me and he did an excellent job on both! The first was finishing up a Stewart MacDonald Dreadnought kit that I purchased. I had completed all the bracing and glued the body together, but realized I didn’t have the skills required to finish the kit. I had Jaxon glue a veneer piece of purpleheart to the headstock (tuning head) and curve the top of headstock so it would be different than the squared Martin style. We also used some of this purple heart for the heel cap and end strip. He did an excellent job both on the woodworking and the finish. I love this guitar and the sound is incredible, better than my expensive Gibson! The other project I had Jaxon work on was adjusting the nut and bridge on my twelve string acoustic guitar. It was very difficult to play until Jaxon set it up for me. I would recommend him for both building and repair work.
